Elevate Your Publishing Practice

Workshops, Webinars, and Keynotes by CASE

Publishing professionals need training in cultural competence and DEI that’s specific and applicable to their jobs, not just generic corporate professional development. While many organizations offer essential DEI training, they often don’t teach publishing professionals how to incorporate these principles into their actual work.

We bridge that gap. CASE by KAA is an editorial service that offers cultural accuracy and sensitivity editing on manuscripts and other materials. We also offer workshops, webinars, and keynotes designed to equip publishing professionals with practical, job-specific DEI tools.

Our Program
IBPA 2024

Each session is designed by an expert in the field.

Your event or conference deserves a keynote speaker who’s an expert on cultural sensitivity, social justice, and the publishing industry. KAA’s CASE department head, Hannah Gómez, PhD (far left), facilitates all these learning experiences. Her insights are based on over a decade of experience in the publishing industry combined with her doctoral work studying literature, culture, and the publishing industry. When appropriate, CASE freelance editors or KAA team members co-lead sessions.

“Partnering with Hannah and the KAA team has been a consistently positive experience. Their team’s exceptional attention to detail and commitment to cultural accuracy is commendable. KAA’s sensitivity editors are not only thorough but also incredibly perceptive and the value they’ve added extends beyond the pages, fostering a deeper understanding and respect for diverse narratives and for authors writing outside of their lived experience. I strongly endorse their services to any writer seeking to enhance their manuscript with conscientious and respectful representation.”

Ready to book your workshop, webinar, or keynote? Have more questions? Send us an email!

Find answers to frequently asked questions below. If you can't find your question, send us an email!

We are a nonprofit organization or educational institution and can't afford your fees. Will you present for free?

We are happy to offer discounted rates for mission-aligned nonprofits and educational institutions (email us to ask about that), but we do not do presentations free of charge. Publishers and other organizations that partner with us on CASE edits also receive preferred pricing on workshops and webinars.

Why should we choose KAA instead of a DEI consulting firm for this type of workshop?

There are many wonderful organizations that offer DEI or cultural competence training, but CASE by KAA is the only one that specifically approaches it from a publishing (or library, bookselling, or creative writing) perspective rather than a general corporate approach. This means your trainer truly understands your job, your needs, and your organization, and she teaches with that in mind, so your learning outcomes are applicable to your role.

Are these workshops online or in person?

We can offer both, even at the same time! Workshops have been delivered via Zoom to a room of virtual and in-person attendees. We can also travel to you (additional fees may apply; trainer travel, hotel, and per diem must be covered in most cases). If you’d like to plan a more extensive experience for your team, you may want to plan a full retreat in Tuscany and engage in multiple workshops and other team-building events.

Can I sit in on a workshop before I decide to pay for one for my organization?

Most likely no, as many of our clients work with us under NDA. However, you can find some past presentations, panels, and podcast appearances by our lead trainer, Dr. Hannah Gómez, linked on her media kit.
