“Kevin, thanks for all of the help with organizing my thoughts and ideas and moving forward with this book! I couldn’t have done it without you!”

Gary Brackett is a former NFL athlete and the author of the inspiring book, Winning: From Walk-On to Captain, in Football and Life. A linebacker and defensive captain for the Super Bowl XLIV-winning Indianapolis Colts, Gary played for nine years in the NFL after going undrafted out of college at Rutgers University. Although undersized at every level of competitive football, Gary excelled both on and off the field and continues to do so today.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Gary attended Glassboro High School in Glassboro, N.J. where he was a two-time All-South Jersey selection, a two-time All-Group I choice, and a two-time All-Tri-County Conference choice. He was a walk-on to the Rutgers University football team, but by senior year, he was the defensive captain and won the team’s defensive MVP honors.

In 2003, Gary was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent and became a starter in 2005. In 2007, he led the Colts in tackles with 116; he was among the team leaders in interceptions and tackles during his career with the Colts.

In 2009, Gary was the 11th annual recipient of the Arthur S. Arkush Humanitarian Award, presented to an NFL player “whose contributions to the community and charitable organizations are especially outstanding” for his work with the IMPACT Foundation, a charity he founded in 2007.

In 2011, Gary released his autobiography, Winning: From Walk-On to Captain, in Football and Life to rave reviews. Winning details the hardships, losses, and victories of Gary’s personal and professional life. The book is framed around the frenzy leading up to Super Bowl XLIV in 2010, when the Colts defeated the New Orleans Saints. Within the book, Gary flashes back to defining moments and lessons learned over the course of his incredible life where he overcame seemingly insurmountable odds. His personal accounts of tragedy touch even the most stoic of readers, while his tales of triumph will have you up and out of your chair cheering.
